A Journey of Resilience and Transformation
April's interest in health and wellness traces back to be a child foraging with her parents and grandparents. The realization that our planet gives us all that we need empowered her to seek out a more holistic life. Already at 17 years of age she was being sent all over the U.S. for herbal supplement trainings. Her journey deepened with the birth of her third child. This child was born with extreme sensitivities to histamine loaded foods. April was determined to find a solution after being told to create a bubble to live in with only an epiPen to potentially save her child from anaphylactic shock if exposed to certain contaminates like gluten.
April began to work with holistic practitioners as well as gain training from two Hopi Medicine Women. Through this experience, April was made aware of the many struggles people who have sensitive systems might endure including being removed from the social experience. This is why April has opened the Community 4Life Hub- to connect the community in a save environment and eventually offer low-histamine food and beverages. Her desire is to serve her community with safe, organic, local, nutritious goods and see the “Hub” grow to accommodate you all in a heartfelt & meaningful manner.
Creating Safe Spaces: Trauma-Informed Yoga
April is certified as a yoga practitioner with a specialization in trauma-informed yoga. Her personal experiences with trauma have driven her to create safe spaces for others on their individual journeys towards healing and self-discovery. April has dedicated time weekly to learning more about the effects of trauma and how to move through our suffrage. Being present is only a part of the journey. Trauma that induces flash backs might require a chemical change which can be achieved with breath work, tapping, or cold and hot therapies. There are so many tools for dealing with these big feelings. April wants us to have open discussions about what’s working for us so that we can empower each other and rise together.
Discovering Yoga: A Path to Healing
Her newfound joy (mentioned above) was accompanied by a severely damaged back. The root of her back troubles traced back to a car accident and a previous snowboarding injury. Seeking relief, she embarked on a quest for her own healing through naturopathic services, chiropractic care, cranial-sacral therapy, physical therapy, and acupuncture. In the midst of her physical struggles, a profound moment occurred. April heard an audible voice, whisper, "you are going to heal yourself." This message left her puzzled, with no clear understanding of its significance or how it would shape her future.
April's journey took an unexpected turn when she discovered the power of Yoga and Quantum Healing. Intrigued by the possibility of finding relief for her back pain, she devoted herself to both practices. This transformative journey began in 2009 – a testament to April's enduring commitment.
April has immersed herself in various yoga modalities including Hatha, Pranayama, Yin, Power Vinyasa, Bikram, Yoga Nidra, & Iyengar. Other movement modalities that you might find sprinkled throughout the classes are Tai Chi, Pilates, & Physical Therapy which enrich her knowledge and expertise. Her own journey towards recovery and self-discovery has become a guiding light, shaping her teaching philosophy and inspiring her to share the profound benefits of yoga with the Port Townsend community.
Holistic Healing and Expertise
April is not only a dedicated yoga practitioner but also a certified Quantum Healing practitioner, specializing in the movement of chi throughout the body. She extends her commitment to healing by incorporating this powerful modality into her practice, nurturing intuitive healing in her students.
April's thirst for knowledge led her to study under the guidance of two Hopi Medicine Women. They imparted invaluable wisdom about optimal nutrition and herbalism, which she now connects to astrology through Ayurvedic principles, enriching her holistic approach to well-being.
Whether you seek relief from physical discomfort, spiritual growth, or simply a nurturing space, April welcomes you with open arms.
